NOx

NOx allows you to freeze Chrome extensions running on any webpage. Use it to disable unwanted extensions while browsing.

Instructions

  1. Open chrome://extensions in a new tab. Keep this page open.
  2. Go to the settings page for the extension you want to disable.
  3. Click the "Freeze extension" button here. Immediately switch back to the chrome://extensions tab.
  4. Spam the "allow access to file URLs" switch on chrome://extensions for a few seconds.
  5. The extension will be frozen. To unfreeze, refresh the page.
Technical Explanation

This tool uses iframes to simulate a freeze by continuously creating and deleting subframes, effectively blocking the extension.

During this process, your Chromebook may hang momentarily. This is normal, and it should resolve itself after a few seconds.
