NOx
NOx allows you to freeze Chrome extensions running on any webpage. Use it to disable unwanted extensions while browsing.
Instructions
- Open chrome://extensions in a new tab. Keep this page open.
- Go to the settings page for the extension you want to disable.
- Click the "Freeze extension" button here. Immediately switch back to the chrome://extensions tab.
- Spam the "allow access to file URLs" switch on chrome://extensions for a few seconds.
- The extension will be frozen. To unfreeze, refresh the page.
Technical Explanation
This tool uses iframes to simulate a freeze by continuously creating and deleting subframes, effectively blocking the extension.
During this process, your Chromebook may hang momentarily. This is normal, and it should resolve itself after a few seconds.
